Before the Suzuki Gsxr, lionhearted Superbike racers like Wes Cooley battled on 1000 cc, steel-frame monsters whose performance had a lot more to do with acceleration than nimble handling.
It wasn't until the Suzuki Gsxr that the race /development/ production bike loop fully closed.
